Abstract:
This study examines how Italian families with children aged 0–6 view digital technology in early childhood education and care (ECEC). A national survey of 2,000 families, including 780 with children in the target age group, found that although most households have adequate digital infrastructure, parents’ digital literacy varies. Parents with lower digital skills tend to express greater concern about privacy and the monetization of data. Awareness of educational technologies used in ECEC is limited, and parents are more familiar with commercial platforms than institutional tools. The study recommends strengthening family–school collaboration, offering targeted digital literacy support for parents, and training educators to promote ethical and equitable technology use.
