Abstract:
This article uses a comparative subject didactics lens to analyse how digital learning platforms are used in Swedish, mathematics, and history lessons in Swedish upper secondary schools, drawing on video data from 47 lessons. Using Bernstein’s concepts, it shows how platforms are integrated differently into each subject’s existing practices while their own structure shapes how knowledge is organized and accessed, often promoting individualized work at the expense of richer explanations and critical thinking, thus highlighting the crucial role of teacher agency.
