Abstract:
This study reports on a collaborative intercultural project between Austrian and French pre-service primary teachers, who used the digital platform eTwinning to co-create multicultural picture stories based on the German literacy website Amira-lesen. Working in binational groups, 25 student teachers developed French versions of these stories to foster intercultural learning and strengthen their foreign-language teaching competences. Questionnaire and qualitative feedback indicate that the project enhanced intercultural awareness, collaborative skills, and reflection on cultural similarities and differences, while also revealing challenges such as language barriers and differing work styles. The article shows how digital storytelling and online collaboration can be effective tools in intercultural teacher education and personal development.
