Abstract:
This article explores Community Digital Storytelling (CDST) as a participatory, decolonising method for Locally Led Adaptation, co-creating short films with Indigenous communities in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam to document climate impacts and adaptation. Combining oral traditions, Indigenous methodologies, and smartphone filmmaking, CDST creates reflexive, intergenerational spaces that expose structural vulnerabilities, center community agency, and reorient climate adaptation towards social justice and the sovereignty of local knowledge, while also acknowledging ethical and structural challenges to long-term impact.
