Abstract:
This configurative literature review examines how studies (2015–2020) describe and analyse the impact of digitalisation on the social worker–client relationship. It identifies three main themes: the benefits and drawbacks of digital tools for building and maintaining relationships; the new ethical questions and dilemmas generated by digitalised practice; and the range of theoretical perspectives applied. The authors argue that future research should move beyond simple “pros and cons”, use richer theoretical frameworks, and pay closer attention to clients’ perspectives and emerging questions.
