Abstract:
Il libro analizza come preparare le università alla rapida transizione digitale accelerata dalla pandemia e dall’avvento dell’IA generativa, proponendo il concetto di “postdigitalità” per comprendere fenomeni complessi come datificazione, platformizzazione e intelligenza artificiale. Punta a definire percorsi di sviluppo professionale accademico (postdigital scholarship) che integrino didattica, ricerca e terza missione, e invita a riflettere criticamente sull’impatto tecnologico sull’educazione e sulla società. Attraverso casi ed “storie algoritmiche”, l’autrice costruisce uno schema concettuale che bilancia opportunità (open science, didattica aperta, pratiche formative situate) e rischi (iper‑metricizzazione, perdita di creatività, effetti sul benessere studentesco). Propone una “cultura postdigitale” fatta di spazi lenti e formativi per promuovere consapevolezza critica, equità e benessere nell’ecosistema universitario, andando oltre un approccio tecnico‑strumentale al faculty development. The book examines how to prepare universities for the rapid digital transition accelerated by the pandemic and the rise of generative AI, adopting the concept of “postdigitality” to understand complex phenomena such as datafication, platformization, and artificial intelligence. It seeks to define pathways for academic professional development (postdigital scholarship) that integrate teaching, research, and the third mission, and prompts critical reflection on the technological impact on education and society. Through cases and “algorithmic stories,” the author constructs a conceptual framework that balances opportunities (open science, open teaching, situated learning practices) and risks (over‑metricization, loss of creativity, effects on student wellbeing). She proposes a “postdigital culture” made up of slow spaces for formative engagement to foster critical awareness, equity, and wellbeing in the university ecosystem, moving beyond a merely technical or instrumental approach to faculty development.
