Abstract:
The paper examines how educational technologies interact with public education, noting that tech can become an end in itself and often reinforces existing structures rather than enabling transformation. It discusses effects on access to knowledge, assessment, necessary skills for a technological society, and tech’s role in informing policy. For meaningful change, the authors argue for updated teacher training, rethinking outdated assumptions, and targeting problems where technology adds value; when implemented thoughtfully, technology can support personalized, humanistic, and culturally plural education.
