Visualising the school: a critical study on co-designing a Moodle-based learning management system

Abstract:
This study examines how Graphic Data Visualisations (GDV) in a Moodle LMS make schools visible and shape practice. Using critical co-design across four schools, it treats GDV as non-human actors and analyzes design "critical incidents." Findings show local practices strongly shape how schools are visually enacted via GDV, while certain GDV foster critical engagement with datafication and enable adaptation to pedagogical and organizational needs.
