Virtual Ethnography of Female Migrants: a WhatsApp Group as a Support Tool During Their Migration Process

Abstract:
This qualitative virtual ethnography analyzed 863 WhatsApp threads from 123 migrant women in a social-labour integration association. Findings show the group serves as a trustworthy information source and a space for solidarity and emotional support during migration. The study highlights under-researched uses of social networks by migrant women and urges organizations to leverage these platforms to improve their social and labour integration.
