‘Travelling with the Traveller’: An Ethnographic Framework for the Study of Migrants’ Digital Inclusion

Abstract:
The paper argues researchers should study migrants’ digital inclusion during migration journeys, not only after resettlement, proposing a “travelling with the traveller” ethnographic framework in which researchers accompany or embed with migrants to capture real-time digital practices using participant observation, informal interviews, and audio-visual data, with the aim of revealing how access to technology helps migrants cope with crises, uncertainty, and practical challenges en route.
