The 2028 special focus, Walking Backwards Into the Future: e-Learning for a Fragile Earth, invites critical and practical proposals on how digital learning can address ecological, cultural, technological, and democratic challenges. Inspired by Pacific perspectives on learning from the visible past while moving toward an uncertain future, it frames e-learning as more than technology: it also involves relationships, knowledge traditions, access, participation, care, and responsibility. Proposals may explore ancestral wisdom and AI, place-based education, ecopedagogy, environmental education, participation, and new pedagogical possibilities. The call also welcomes work on digital pedagogies, emerging learning spaces, technologies of mediation, and social transformation through learning.
