The 17th CARFMS conference, “The Unravelling of Refuge: Resettlement, Peacebuilding, and Safety in a World of Uncertainty” (Winnipeg, 12–14 May 2027), examines the shrinking space for resettlement and growing hostility toward forced migrants, asking about the future of resettlement as a durable solution. It invites proposals on emerging issues (climate displacement, biometrics, criminalization, neglected conflicts), differentiated experiences of refugees and subcultures, host society receptivity, return migration, AI and technological management of mobility, and innovative/co-produced research methods, in formats such as papers, panels/workshops, films, art, and posters.
