The GSA Digital Humanities Network invites research papers, case studies, and explorations of best practices at the interface of German Studies and the Digital Humanities. Scholars at all career stages (graduate student to faculty) are invited to submit. Digital humanities research tools, methods and projects have matured in recent years, but at the same time the advent of large language, multimodal and agentic models presents new opportunities and challenges for the humanities. New research questions constantly arise, especially in the area of (critical) artificial intelligence, while entirely new areas of humanistic inquiry and critical reflection of digital technologies and digital cultures appear on the horizon. German Studies is no exception to this trajectory, and a reflection of current developments in the field is more necessary than ever. The comprehensiveness of existing German language digitized archives and digital projects suggests a wealth of potential avenues of exploration around German literature, language, culture, and history, as well as digital methodology, that this panel aims to assemble.
