I am currently a junior professor in Intercultural Practice with a focus on Digital Cultures at Chemnitz University of Technology (Germany). Previously, I worked as a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Intercultural Communication at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena (Germany), where I completed my Ph.D. on the topic: "Imaginaries of Migration: Life Stories of Mexican Migrants in Germany" (2021, transcript). With the perspective of social imaginaries and the method of life stories, I explore the complexity in the lives of people - self-defined as Mexicans -, their motivations for mobility, the reconstruction of identities in transnational fields, and the complex interplay between dominant national imaginaries and emerging imaginaries of interculturality. My academic background includes a Master's degree in International Migration and Intercultural Relations from the University of Osnabrück (Germany), supported by a DAAD-Conacyt scholarship, and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the Jesuit University of Guadalajara (ITESO) (Mexico). I have also completed academic exchange studies at the University of Leipzig (Germany) and the University of Murcia (Spain). My research interests lie in understanding the reconfiguration of meanings and practices in everyday life in the postdigital field of action. I am particularly fascinated by the concept of "E-maginaries" - a lens through which I reframe social imaginaries in the postdigital field of action. My current empirical research explores postdigital intercultural practices, particularly in the context of migration and Internet-mediated interactions. I am also examining the E-maginaries of coloniality within social networking sites. I am interested in collaboration and am looking to connect with other researchers to brainstorm and embark on new projects together. Feel free to contact me if you share similar interests or would like to explore potential collaborations.
