The University of Sydney welcomes applications for a Professor Media Communications (Education Focused) in the School of Art, Communication and English, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. With the introduction of the new University of Sydney Enterprise Agreement 2023-26, the University has committed to establishing and advertising new continuing education-focused (EF) academic positions. The positions in this opportunity are for talented educators with a passion for and demonstrated excellence in educational practice and innovation and research capability (in disciplinary and/or education-related research). This newly recruited group of educators will support an uplift in the teaching capability and student experience at the University of Sydney. The Professor in Media and Communications/Digital Cultures (Education Focused) dedicates the majority of their contribution to teaching and teaching-related activities (up to 70%), with a minimum of 20% research and 10% governance, service, and engagement. Additionally, they will mentor junior academics, providing advice on teaching methodologies, education research approaches, publications, and career advancement. Successful candidates will join the Sydney Horizon Educators cohort. This position is geared towards scholars deeply engaged with teaching and learning of digital media within higher education settings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven history of innovation in education, which should encompass holding an Advance HE fellowship and/or a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education. Additionally, candidates should have a robust portfolio of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) publications that enhance their contributions to the digital media domain. As part of a team of experts in digital media, the candidate is expected to pursue a career focused on education, with a keen interest in advancing educational leadership.
