Research Consultant: Digital Sovereignty & Alternative Technologie (remote)

This consultancy will produce a 40–60 page research report on emerging civic technologies and alternatives to Big Tech, focusing on tools for external civic action and internal organizational operations. Grounded in CIVICUS’ civic space innovation framework (struggle, solidarity, deliberation), the work includes global trend and literature review, case studies (with emphasis on the Global South), synthesis of programme insights, strategic gap analysis and recommendations, and delivery of a practitioner‑oriented report. Applicants need expertise in digital governance/civic tech, strong research and writing skills, and experience with civil society and platform/digital commons issues.
