Assistant Teaching Professor global media, screen cultures, and digital production cultures

The Department of Media Studies, of the College of Media, Communication, and Information at the University of Colorado Boulder, invites applications for a non-tenure track assistant teaching professor. The successful candidate will have experience developing/delivering large undergraduate lecture courses. We are particularly interested in candidates who are able to teach Media Studies (MDST) 1003, Critical Media Literacies: an introductory course intended primarily for non-majors, which the department intends to relaunch in Fall 2026 In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to: teach other existing undergraduate courses in the department, commensurate with their area(s) of expertise; bridge core theoretical concepts with hands-on media practices; and contribute to the unit’s mission of fostering critical, creative, and inclusive approaches to media studies. Finally, the successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach new undergraduate courses in media studies on topics such as: Global Media, with a focus on East and/or South Asia Screen Cultures, including Anime and/or other global screen industries Digital Production Cultures, including platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, and/or media formats such as podcasting We particularly welcome candidates whose teaching emphasizes diverse global perspectives and interdisciplinary approaches to media and culture.
