The University of Münster, Faculty of Education and Social Sciences, Department of Sociology, invites applications for a W1 professorship with tenure track to W2 for Sociology: “Migration, Diversity and Social Cohesion”. The professorship is intended in particular to support, through teaching and research, the new Master's program “Diversity and Social Inequality”, which will begin in the Winter Semester 2025/26 at the Department. The future incumbent will be expected to address the full scope of diversity, beyond ethnic and religious differences, throughout the qualification phase and to place it in a systematic context with questions of social inequality and social cohesion. Successful applications must meet the following criteria: very good doctorate in sociology/social sciences with a focus on sociology initial achievements in the postdoctoral phase demonstrated by relevant empirical research and publications (particularly articles in peer-reviewed journals) research connections to a second topic beyond the dissertation empirical research on the sociology of migration societies and, beyond that, on the sociology of diversity, with consideration of issues of social cohesion experience in university teaching We also desire an initial experience in: securing third-party funding, publishing in English-language journals, conducting and organizing projects, academic self-administration, and an international orientation.
