Research Associate Project StoryMachine: Exploring Implications of Recommender Based Spatial Hypertext Systems for Folklore and the Humanities

Part-time position (20 hours per week) for a period of 2 years – with the possibility of extension – in the German-British DFG/AHRC research project "Project StoryMachine: Exploring Implications of Recommender Based Spatial Hypertext Systems for Folklore and the Humanities". Remuneration is in accordance with TV-L EG 13. Your Responsibilities: • Project coordination, e.g., correspondence with network members and research participants • Conception, organization and implementation of empirical studies • Data collection, data transcription and analysis • Participation in the analysis of folkloristic databases, collections and indices as well as digital hypertext systems and fictions • Exchange and cooperation with network partners and practical actors from the field (e.g., schools, artists and regional NGOs) • Participation and co-organization of meetings and events of the research network • Academic publications and presentations of the results in relevant journals and at national and international congresses; knowledge transfer • Good or very good university degree (Master's, BA/BSc, Staatsexamen or comparable) in a field directly relevant for the Project, for example in (empirical) cultural, literary or media studies, anthropology or digital humanities • Interest in and ability to make a significant conceptual, organizational and output- oriented contribution to the research project and team • Excellent German and English language skills (oral and written) at C1 or C2 level (CEFR); a keen interest in German-British research cooperation • Experience in research methods and data analysis in at least one of the following areas: - Qualitative-empirical social, reader and/or user research (e.g. focus groups, interviews) - Methods and tools of digital social sciences and/or digital humanities • Expertise and/or interest in digital cultural and narrative studies
