UNPACK (Unpacking the asylum procedure in its intersecting linguistic, sociocultural, psychological and legal dimensions) is an interdisciplinary iBOF project examining fairness in asylum procedures by combining linguistics, anthropology, psychology and law through ethnographic case studies and organizational analysis. Coordinated by Karel Arnaut (KU Leuven), Ilse Derluyn, Katrijn Maryns and Ellen Desmet (UGent) and funded by iBOF, UNPACK partners uniquely with the Belgian CGRS to develop an evidence-based framework of fairness for real-world asylum interactions among applicants, officials, interpreters and lawyers
