Abstract:
The expanding internationalization of academic institutions in today’s higher education is intrinsically connected to the revolutionary potential of digital humanities. One key objective of this internationalization is to create an intercultural learning environment that surpasses national boundaries. This study explores the potential of digital humanities to foster cross-cultural learning experiences, thereby promoting diverse perspectives, international cooperation, and intercultural understanding. Grounded in the theoretical frameworks of digital critical literacy and intercultural communicative competence, this research draws from diverse perspectives, including those of Moroccan scholars, to investigate how digital tools can bridge cultural narratives and enhance educational practices. The primary objectives of this study are to: (1) examine the role of internationalization of higher education in enhancing intercultural competencies and digital literacy; and (2) investigate the integration of digital humanities and social media in higher education to support internationalization and improve students’ digital skills and cultural awareness. The findings of this study aim to inform policymakers and curriculum designers, encouraging the adoption of more inclusive and technologically advanced educational practices. The results indicate that digital humanities significantly enrich students’ educational experiences by enhancing their technical skills and intercultural awareness.
