Category: Research grant / fellowship / scholarship
Keywords: Social Imagining, Practices, Dynamics, Social Sciences, art history, history, cultural studies, sociology, political science, literature, philosophy, media studies, computer science

The Research Training Group “Explorations in Practices and Dynamics of Social Imagining” is linked to the “Imaginamics” research initiative. It offers an attractive working environment with interdisciplinary insights and cross-institutional networking opportunities. The six scholarship holders are supervised by the participating academics and the cooperating institutions. The subjects involved are art history, history, cultural studies, sociology, political science, literature, philosophy, theology, media studies and computer science. The “Imaginamics” research initiative aims to bring together the cultural sciences, humanities and social sciences in an innovative way and to develop a practice-theory based understanding of the significance of social imagining in both the past and the present within a transepochal and transcultural framework. In the broadest sense, this refers to practices that societies use to create images of themselves or other social entities, as well as how they share other ideas, images, narratives (etc.) that become socially relevant. We are looking for doctoral projects that deal with questions and topics from the interdisciplinary field of the research initiative.
